I believe “Life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself.”
Peachy as I am fondly referred to, speaks a lot about my personal philosophy. Life is peachy, generally.
People often ask if you are black and white or grey, and I say colour. Now I know that is not what they are asking, but that’s my answer. We should think in colour, dream in colour, create and imagine in colour. Full, glorious colour! For me it’s about taking the limitations of the conventional and looking at them differently. Why does it have to be black or white or grey? Create your own colour palette.
In a nutshell, I am an embracer of creativity in all things, a sports fanatic, consumer of the written word, lover of passion and energy and ultimately a celebrator of life!
Lynn Miller, better known as Peachy to her friends and colleagues, joined the advertising world fairly late in her career. She studied graphic design, started her career in insurance and then joined a traditional advertising agency as part of the production team at Young & Rubicam (Y&R) in 1989.
At Y&R, Lynn moved from production into account management, before going over to the group’s direct agency, Wunderman, where she headed up the Medicover and AA accounts, and was global liaison and head of Microsoft SA.
She moved back into the traditional advertising space, joining DDB in 2006.
Lynn then took up an opportunity to join brand agency, HKLM, to head up the Nedbank account and specialise in branding. From there, she moved back into advertising to HKLM Connect, working closely together with Tracy McCoy.
Lynn then decided to cross over to the client side of the business, joining the Telesure Group as brand leader in 2009. Here she was responsible for overseeing the brand managers across all of the business brands, including Hippo, Budget, Dial Direct, 1st for Women, Virgin, AA and Virseker. After 5 years at Telesure, she decided it was time to give back to the industry and do what she really loves: mentor, guide and train.
Lynn’s experience on both the agency and client side of the business is a bonus, allowing her to view the relationship, challenges and opportunities from both sides. Lynn believes the need for training and the growth of people at the agency level is critical to the health of the advertising and marketing industry.
She is totally committed to giving back by sharing her learnings with others. She sees it as her purpose and it is exactly where she wants to be right now.
Lynn has worked in advertising for over 12 years, gaining experience across many diverse brands including Colgate Palmolive, Danone, Absa, Medicover, Microsoft, AA Assist, Schick, Philips SA and Legacy Hotel Group.
As part of her own personal committment to learning, Lynn recently completed and passed the Brandschool’s comprehensive digital course.
