Miller&McCoy was started by Lynn Miller and Tracy McCoy in late 2014. The decision to go out on their own was very much informed by circumstance and a desire for both to “give back”.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Passion, motivation, inspiration. Awesome words! But what do they mean? Everyone talks about them and we all wish we practised them, but life has a way of getting in the way and we become disillusioned, plodding along just so we can pay the bills.

Being passionate, motivated and inspired is about what we do and how we feel about what we do and what kind of impact it has on us and those around us. It is about loving what we do and believing in it. The world of advertising is exciting, scary, powerful, demanding and influences the behaviour of consumers and the choices they make.

What an awesome space to be and an amazing industry to be involved in. So what happened to the magic? What happened to the creativity, the passion, the emotion, the energy and the courage to be brave?

The role of account management within advertising and agencies seems to have lost its magic. It seems to have become about pushing paper and doing administration and submitting to all the egos in the room.

It’s time to believe in magic. It’s time to take back the power and be inspiring, motivating and passionate about what we do, the people we do it with and for.

Our tool box modules include: Back to Basics, how to sell creative, how to take a brief, preparing for the presentation and many more. Go to our skills development section to get more information.

In addition to skills development of account management, we also conduct 1 or 2 day workshops with clients. How do we start to get the magic back, if we don’t understand the kind of magic we want to create? And who we are creating it with? Why are we creating it and when?

“The person who tries to do everything, accomplishes nothing”

Robin Sharma
At Miller&McCoy we are all about training that is focused, about developing your personal power, within a structured and supportive environment, that allows you to be passionate, motivated, and enlightened. We provide you with a tool box of skills that will ensure you not only deliver against the basics of account management, but that you add value. Value that challenges the clients thinking in a positive manner, value that allows you to influence, debate and guide. Value that is applied both within the agency and with your client, because everything we do is about relationships.

We not only offer a tool box that will ensure your skills are substantially enhanced, but we also provide you with a set of clear guidelines with other divisions within the agency, to ensure that all parties have an understanding of their relevant roles, as well as responsibilities. Our approach to skills development is about ensuring account management have all the right tools, to deliver and engage not only within the agency, but most importantly, with the client.

“Isn’t having an impact in the world – by helping your clients and positively influencing others – what business is ultimately about?”

Robin Sharma
  • Limited investment in up-skilling has led to an erosion of skilled account management
  • In order to build respect and genuine partnerships, we need to go “back to basics”
  • The demand for truly multi skilled account management that has a POV across a myriad of other disciplines, is a must. An individual that can interpret the clients needs (understand the brief) and challenge or add value during the process (both from an agency and client POV) is a must
  • Skills development is the perfect vehicle to help give our audience the tools and ability to confidently deliver on the above
  • We believe that in order to truly shift the relationship into a true partnership, (The power of one), we have to operate differently. We start with a day workshop where expectations from both agency and client are identified, and then managed on an on going basis (skills development & relationship reviews)

Ever heard the quote; “Life’s a journey, not a destination”? It is easy to be outcome focused and forget about the journey. Agencies pitch on business and accounts are won, for a multitude of reasons. But how often, once the agency has been appointed, do we sit down and take time to understand the kind of relationship we want? To understand the roles and responsibilities and expectations? To define all the elements that need to be in place in order to ensure that we enjoy the honeymoon for as long as possible and that the marriage has a solid foundation?

We facilitate 2 day workshops that are structured specifically to understand the expectations and deliverables and define a working relationship that delivers on that, daily. We understand the need to ensure that both parties have a solid and broad understanding of the brand, the business and its people and how they all work together to define a culture that allows us to deliver.

Having spent years in advertising and marketing, we understand the need for marketing and the impact it has on the bottom line. Millward Brown’s BrandZ study shows how the top 100 brands, including the likes of Google, Apple, IBM, Microsoft and Coca-Cola, outperformed the S&P 500 by 30% over five years. So why isn’t it taken seriously in more organizations?

We offer a 1 day workshop giving you and your board, directors, or decision makers, a broad overview of branding, marketing, communications, including the role of media and digital. We will even consult with your marketing team to compile a marketing strategy, based on your business strategy.

Don’t have a business strategy? We have access to a group of skilled strategic specialists that can help you define your business strategy, so you can focus on marketing.

Robin Sharma says “Business needs more daring. Business needs more people willing to take risks and play out on the skinny branches” and we couldn’t agree more. That’s what advertising used to be about and there were plenty of clients and agencies that played out on the ‘skinny’ branches.

So contact us to be part of the Miller&McCoy family and let’s go create some magic! Let’s go and play out on the ‘skinny’ branches and re-discover our passion, motivation and inspiration.
